Hone Your Skills

It seldom fails. I sit in a Zoom business meeting or across the table from a date. I picture the person who is speaking approaching a cliff. As they get closer to the edge, I hold my breath.

They say “hone” when they should say “home.” I die just a little inside, knowing I will never look at that person the same way again. This happens A LOT.

I am here to save you from falling off that cliff.

“Hone” means to improve or sharpen. You hone a skill or a knife.

“Home” means to approach a target. You home in on a location.

AI or some other lesser sources may tell you these words are interchangeable. That is a lie. Now you know.
