Colored Markers and Wite-Out for the Win

This is my friend Karen Colligan. If not for Karen, my business might not be around to mark 18 years this coming October.

Karen makes me work ON my business. With her presence in my life, my days of sitting passively at my computer, occasionally pressing the refresh button and calling it bus dev are gone. She meets with me regularly to mind map my business with her bag of colored markers and Wite-Out (as we did this past week on her wall). She keeps me on track to achieve goals she helped me articulate. She does this solely because she is generous and kind and caring.

Karen is also an expert in leadership. I would follow her anywhere, and I pretty much do.

My biggest piece of advice to anyone who has their own business: Find a Karen to support you, love you and kick your ass. Or, if they find you, say, “Yes, please.”
